Workshop: Understanding the Objective-Based Code
We’re unable to offer this in our traditional workshop format. We’re currently exploring how to present the workshop online, either as a webinar or as a downloadable, prerecorded workshop. We’ll send you information about how to register for this workshop in a future email.
When this workshop is offered, you’ll learn about the effective use of the objective-based code. You’ll learn how to use the function, objective and intent statements, as well as the attribution tables. You’ll understand how this information can help you with better interpretations and with providing alternative solution submissions to local authorities.
Workshop: Legislative Framework
The scheduled 2020 spring workshop in Regina has been deferred. (No decision has been made yet concerning the fall workshop in Saskatoon.)
We’re also looking at different online platforms that will allow us to deliver this spring Legislative Framework workshop and for you to take the requisite exam. Once a suitable platform has been chosen, we’ll contact building officials and others so they can register for this workshop.
New Appointment: Chief Building Official
Effective May 1, 2020, Marvin Meickel will be appointed as the Chief Building Official in Saskatchewan. Marvin has been an Assistant Chief Building Official for nearly 10 years.
William Hawkins, who has worked as both Chief Building Official (since 2005) and Executive Director of the Building Standards and Licensing Branch (since 2013) will continue as Executive Director. In that role, he manages priority projects related to the delivery of technical safety programs in the province.
We remind you that due to current circumstances, our staff may take a little longer than usual to respond to any inquiries, but we are committed to providing you the same quality of service.
